We popped into Teddington Stores on our way home today. Much of their produce is local and / or organic. They even have a butcher with meat supplied by a farm just down the road. We bought four gold star award wining burgers and when we were in the queue, they pointed out that the farmer was in the shop, so we were pleased to show him that we were buying his produce.
Low food miles are an exciting and important thing for us. The produce in the shop wasn't particularly cheap, but it was high quality and therefore good value. We bought a couple of things and we'll go back. If more people did this, they'd have a roaring trade and our lives would all be enriched.
